SABO Works is a London-based architectural, cultural and research practice founded by Sarah Osei rooted in lived experiences, multiculturalism and social justice.
As the practice’s name translates, SABO Works approach to architecture is something new. We interpret building as ainterdisciplinary discipline working with the place’s normalities, materials, languages, cultures and climates before a intervention is suggested.
‘SABO, pronounced [saa-boh], is derived from the Hausa language and means “something new.”
Sarah Osei BArch, MArch is trained in Architecture and Spatial Practice, working in the intersections of ethnography, climate justice, facilitation, policy, architecture and built work through lenses and methodologies of the diaspora. Her work is site-specific amplifying the lesser-heard dialogues of the capital as a means towards celebrating them. She is an spatial practioner, architect-in-training, writer, cultural producer and researcher with projects ranging from public realm, housing, written work, cultural buildings, workshops, post occupancy sessions and curation.
Sarah holds an advisory role on the Old Kent Road community panel, is a MullenLowe NOVA Award Nominee, Spatial Practices Climate Care Award Winner and is a recipient of Karakusevic Carson Architects‘ Ledbury Bursary.
