Let Me Land - A Cultural Strategy for Rye Lane Peckham.

Works: Public realm & localised spatial builds
Location: London
Date: 2024 - present.

Let Me Land is a cultural strategy reimagining diasporic amplification in Peckham during redevelopment through multi-scalar interventions. The project, pinned under objective thirteen of the Mayor’s EDI strategy; ‘Londoners from all walks of life FEEL
HEARD and SEE THEMSELVES reflected in the public realm’, creates agency for marginalised community participation and peckham’s cultural permanence using sound, facilitation and immediate context as design drivers. In turn, creating a wider strategy for representative design
in the city.

SABO Works is a South London-based architectural and cultural practice founded by Sarah Osei, grounded in lived experiences, multiculturalism and social justice.

As the practice’s name translates, SABO Works’ approach to architecture is something new. We interpret architecture as a transdisciplinary

discipline working with a site’s normalities, materials, languages, cultures and climates.

‘SABO, pronounced [saa-boh], is derived from the Hausa language and means “something new.”

Sarah Osei
BArch (Ravensbourne University London), MArch (Central Saint Martins) is trained in Architecture and Spatial Practice, working in the intersections of ethnography, policy and architectures through methodologies of the diaspora. Her work is site-specific, amplifying the lesser-heard dialogues of the capital as a means towards celebrating them. She is an Architectural Assistant, Cultural Facilitator and Writer, working across public realm, housing, written work, cultural buildings, workshops, post-occupancy sessions and curation.

Sarah holds an advisory role on the Old Kent Road community review panel, is a MullenLowe NOVA Award nominee, Central Saint Martins Spatial Practices Climate Care Award winner, co-founder of Sounding: and is a recipient of the Karakusevic Carson Architects’ Ledbury Bursary.
